6max - a poker game where six (or in cash games a maxmium of six) players are allowed.
+EV - positive expected value. Any decision which over the long term is mathematically proven to be profitable (e.g. me calling your all-in when I have pocket aces) is said to have a positive expected value, or, when abbreviated, +EV.
-EV - the opposite of +EV. E.g. me calling your shove when I am holding 72o would definetely be -EV!
A
Ace Poker Drills - excellent poker software aimed at beginner sit n go players, helping aid the process of working out pot odds and hand ranges.
All-in - to commit your remaining chips to that hand (see also 'shove')
Ante - an amount that has to be committed before the flop by all players.
B
Bad beat - When a hand that is currently/strongly the most likely to win, doesn't (due to a 'suckout'). For example if on the flop I have a set of aces and you have just a pair but hit four of a kind on the river, that would be a bad beat.
Big blind - the position two to the left of the dealer/button. The player in this position must commit at least the big blind on that round.
Blind - an amount that must be committed either by the small blind (half the blind) or big blind (the whole amount) by the players in those positions (to the left of the dealer/button). The blinds will increase as the SNG gos on. How frequently they increase depends on whether you're playing a regular speed game, turbo, or super-turbo.
Blinded out - if you are in a situation late in the SNG where you persist in waiting for a premium hands, eventually you will be 'blinded out', i.e. your blinds are either being folded or 'stolen'. - a weak, defensive style of poker.
Buy-in - how much it costs to enter that SNG, e.g. $6, $11 etc.
C
Call - to 'see' a bet. E.g. if player A bets 200, you have to give 200 of your chips (call) to continue.
Calling station - a player who will rarely fold, pre-flop or after.
Check - to not bet.
Check-raise - to check with the intention of raising when the player next to act bets into you.
D
DoN (Double or Nothing) - a type of SNG where the top 50% of the entrants will recieve double the buy-in back. The remaining players recieve nothing.
Donk - a bad player; someone who consistently makes bad moves/decisions and plays badly.
Donkbet - a weak, defensive and poor play, often the minimum bet possible, made by a player first to act on the flop in a hand where someone else raise pre-flop. E.g. if there is a pot of 300 that I was the pre-flop aggressor in, if my opponent bets 30 on the flop, he/she would be making a 'donkbet'.
F
Flop - three cards dealt after the first round of betting in a poker hand. These (along with the turn and river) are referred to as 'community' cards as they can be used by any of the players in that poker hand to make their hand.
Fish - either a bad player/donk, or someone who is very new to the game and therefore exploitable as they will continually make bad decisions.
Folding - not calling a bet at that point. Once you have folded your cards are 'mucked' and you don't continue in that particular poker hand.
G
GG ('good game') - abbreviation often used in poker chat boxes. Can be used sarcastically as well as sincerely.
H
HHs (hand histories) - a text file created by your poker client that stores all information about your sit n gos. This can then be used by various software for you to analyse your game after the SNG has ended.
Headsup (HU) - when you are playing against just one player. I.e. at the end of a sit n go when it is down to just two of you.
Holdem Manager - an excellent piece of poker software which enables to you to view information on your SNG opponent's styles of play (using a Heads Up Display/HUD), as well as anlalysing your own and opponent's play afterwards.
Hole-cards - the two cards you are dealt at the beginning of the hand.
K
Kicker - the lower card in the pocket hand. For example if my two dealt cards are A8, I am holding ace high with an 8 kicker. Whereas if you have A9, then you have an ace with a higher kicker.
L
LAG / Loose aggressive - a style of poker play characterized by two things - 1) the player is 'loose' meaning they are playing more hands than normal, 2) they are being aggressive which means they are betting and raising more than normal.
Leaderboard - basically like a chart of the best sit n go players. The leaderboard might be run by the poker site itself, a 3rd party such as a forum, or on a site like Sharkscope. Leaderboards are often broken down by the buy-ing and/or type of sit n go.
Limp - to call the small blind before the flop (to 'limp in' to the pot)
Limp-call - to limp into the post then call a raise when one is made.
Loose - playing not just premium poker hands. E.g if you raise pre-flop early in the game and I call you with J6o, I would be playing 'loose' (as well as badly!)

Overlimp - limping after another player has limped in.
P
Pocket pair - any time you are dealt a pair (e.g. 7h 7d) at the start of a poker hand, you have a 'pocket pair'. E.g. in this situation you would have 'pocket sevens'.
Poker Tracker - a type of poker analysis software similar to Holdem Manager.
Post-flop - anything that happens after the flop is deatl is referred to as 'post flop'.
R
Rags - a 'junk' hand, such as 72o. 'Rag' can also refer to just one card, for example A3o might be referred to as 'ace rag'.
Range - a range in SNGs refers to someone's 'hand range; that is, what kind of cards they will play with. E.g a hand range might be "88+, AQ+,AJs+", meaning they would only play with a pocket pair better than 88, any unsuited ace with a queen kicker or higher, and any suited ace with a jack kicker or higher.
Reg - abbreviation of 'regular' - a player that is often seen on that particular poker site at that type/level of sit n go. Usually refers to a profiting player.
River - the final of the five 'board cards'

Sharkscope - online database of sit n go and other tournaments, allowing players to view performance statistics on themselves and their opponents.
Sit N Go (SNG) - a poker tournament which will have anything from 2 to 180 players. The 'go' refers to the fact that there is not an option to 'rebuy' another opportunity in that tournament should your play end by being 'busted out'.
Sit N Go Wiz (SNG Wiz) - vital poker software for improving your shove/fold / late stage SNG play. This software helps you spot your leaks in terms of when you should be shoving/moving all in, and when you should be folding.
Small blind - the position to the left of the dealer/button where half of the big blind must be committed before the play commences.
Stop and go - calling a raise pre flop (perhaps with a small pocket pair) with the intention of going all in on the flop regardless of what cards are out there.
Suckout - a situation where the player having an inferior poker hand gets lucky (sucks out) to win the hand.
T
Table-selection: Making the right decisions before even entering a sit n go game. For example if the next SNG to run has several 'regs' in it, it will probably be best to wait for the next one.
TAG / Tight aggressive - a style of poker characterized by playing premium hands, picking spots to bluff with care, and playing strong hands 'aggressively' to get value from them
Trips - a 'set', three of a kind. I.e. if you have pocket sevens and another seven comes on the flop, then you have 'trips'
Turn - the fourth 'board' or 'community card' to be dealt. This comes after the flop and before the river.

Universal Replayer - a Java-based piece of poker software which imports hand histories and allows you to replay them with a graphical interface (rather than just reading the text file of them)
