"Sit 'n Go Strategy' is an excellent book by Collin Moshman and is the definitive strategy book for the online sit n go / SNG poker player.

Collin breaks down the game into sections, e.g. low-blind play, high-blind play etc, and summarises what the optimal play is in each stage of the game. What I especially like about the book is that, rather than just being pages of instruction, there's a load of quiz questions at each stage as well. This helps you confirm your understanding and highlight any areas you want to go over again.

The book is particuarly helpful to improve your understanding of the mathematics of sit n gos. As the game gets to a shove/fold situation this is vital and knowing what the correct plays are will ensure your success at the bubble and help you capitalise on your opponents errors.

If you're a SNG player and you only buy one poker strategy book I would suggest it's this one.

'Kill Everyone' is a must-read book whether you're a sit n go or MTT player. It is broken into sections, similar to Sit N Go Strategy; early game and endgame.
The first section makes an important distinction between 'old school' and 'new school' play (e.g. players no longer sticking to premium hands early in a poker tournament) and provides examples from actual hands played by professional poker players. The book suggests playing speculative hands cheaply early on in a SNG/MTT with a view to hitting a flop well and beating someone with a 'traditional'/premium hand such as a big pocket pair.

Throughout the book examples are used from actual hands, which serves to bring the theory to life.

The second section is very useful - 'Specific Guidelines for accumulating chips' with several pointers on this.

'Endgame strategy' is the last and largest section. As a sit n go player you'll know how important the late stages are, especially if you're a turbo player where a good push/fold game is vital. Kill Everyone explains good strategy regarding chip-stacks (and the importance of adapting to them), the 'semi aggressive', 'aggressive', 'all in' and 'special stages'.

Section 4 is a great read regarding Equilibrium Plays (that is, knowing correct ranges of calling and shoving). The authors explain the maths behind correct play well.

All in all, 'Kill Everyone' is an excellent book - 366 pages of well written poker strategy for the SNG or MTT online poker player. You can order this today via the Amazon link below.

Poker isn't just about strategy in terms of what cards to play when, or the maths, etc. A huge part of being a consistently profiting player is dealing with our own emotions and psychology.

Variance and bad beats are tricky to deal with. If we let them get the better of us it affects how we play, which then in turn leads to bad decisions and poor results - a vicious cycle.

I have read Zen and the Art of Poker several times. It's a great book, well-written and easy to digest. Very good to read if you're struggling with a downswing or a cluster of bad beats.

The book reminds us that folding is a 'weapon' just as much as raising and betting is - if we allow ourselves to be frustrated/tilted by the LAG maniac then we end up making costly mistakes.

Whether you're a sit n go, MTT or cash poker player, this is a book you'll keep coming back to,
